Guilty Pleasures

One of my guilty pleasures is watching the programme Salvage Hunters,
so I couldn't wait for the weekend so that I could visit the Salvo Fair
at Stubbings Estate.

It amazes me that items that were discarded in the past are
now highly sort after by interior designers.  School chairs and stools from the science labs
were in abundance, so too were church pews and galvanised steel watering cans
which I remember my Dad using!

One company that really impressed me with their innovative designs
was Antiques By Design. Just take a look at some of their creative
lighting....

Sissor lamp

Even a pair of scissors have been given a new lease of life as
a lamp!

So if you are interested in reclaimed lighting, mirrors and furniture take
a look at antiquesbydesign.co.uk you won't be disappointed!

  3. Funnily enough, we were in a store over the weekend that specialises in reclaimed/restored pieces ... we were talking to the owner about how they travel out to old munitions factories in the middle of the Czech countryside (and greeted by men with guns!) and the like to reclaim old light fittings etc. These pieces are really interesting and certainly not anything I would have thought of!
